Tesla Model Y gets adapter for charging other gadgets

Tesla has introduced an optional adapter for its Model Y vehicles, allowing them to charge other devices. The vehicle-to-load (V2L) adapter is available for the Model Y Premium and Performance trims in the U.S. and costs $80. With this adapter, the car can power gadgets such as phones and laptops. The 120V, 20A adapter delivers a maximum power of 2.4kW and can be used with Tesla's Gen 3 Mobile Connector.

The adapter is not available for the non-Premium Model Y trims or for any of the Model 3 variants. Tesla is not the first to offer V2L adapters, as other companies like Ford and Hyundai have been providing them for their respective models. However, Tesla is the first to take its time in introducing this feature. For those interested in powering their homes, the Cybertruck offers both V2L adapter and V2H functionality, along with the Universal Home Charger and Gateway, priced at $1,970.
