Supreme Court won't rehear Trump's appeal of $5 million E. Jean Carroll case

The Supreme Court has declined for the second time to hear former President Donald Trump's appeal regarding a $5 million civil case brought by writer E. Jean Carroll. The court's decision, announced in an unsigned order, reaffirms the previous ruling. Carroll's attorney, Roberta Kaplan, expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court's decision, stating that the verdict is now final and unchallengeable in court.

In 2023, a federal jury found Trump liable for sexual assault and defamation, ordering him to pay Carroll $5 million. The jury's unanimous decision, reached in less than three hours, was based on evidence supporting Carroll's claims. Trump has consistently denied the allegations, calling them a "hoax" and questioning Carroll's character.

He did not testify during the trial but testified briefly in a subsequent defamation trial, where he was again found liable. Trump's legal team argued that the appeals court failed to rule on potential presidential immunity, but the Supreme Court has yet to rule on this point.
