중앙대-태국 치앙마이대, 글로벌 공동 해커톤 성료

The University of Central (President Park Se-hyun) and Chiang Mai University jointly concluded the 2026 CAUXCMU Joint Hackathon from August 4 to 7. This international collaboration program brought together Central University and Chiang Mai University students to form multinational teams and develop digital services that could address various global and local issues.

Each university sent ten students, who formed mixed-nationality teams and completed intensive projects over three days. The hackathon's main themes were local challenges, sustainability, and culture-based services. Students identified social issues in each field, designed apps and digital services to solve them, and created prototypes (MVPs) considering user experience, technology, and marketability.

The program operated as a global educational initiative, with students conducting every aspect of the project, from idea discovery to service design, prototype development, and presentation. They received mentoring from faculty and experts from both universities, enhancing their problem-solving abilities and communication skills.

At the final presentation, each team's app services were judged on creativity, social value, and market potential. Students presented real-world business models and strategies for global expansion, delivering high-quality results. The winning projects will be connected to the future global startup support program. Winning teams will receive ongoing mentoring, business model enhancement, and global market entry support, forming a sustainable global university-projects-startup model.

Central University's Vice President for Virtual Fusion College, Jeong Hyung, emphasized that the process of defining and solving problems together represented a core value of global education. He pledged that the experience would lead to further educational and research cooperation between the two universities and continued international collaborative projects for students to challenge the world stage.

The university aims to continue organizing joint hackathons and other international educational programs to nurture global creative fusion talents.
