Singapore police probe alleged assault of elderly man after he patted girl’s head

On August 15, a 73-year-old man was reportedly shoved to the ground by a 40-year-old man at a coffee shop in East Coast, Singapore, after he patted a girl's head. The incident took place at around 4:40pm on East Coast Road, according to The Straits Times. Police have identified the 40-year-old man and lodged a police report, with investigations currently underway.

A Facebook post by a user named Bei-ing Wanton Noodle, who claimed the elderly man was his father, indicated that the elderly man had difficulty walking and helped out at the coffee shop stall. The post also showed security camera footage of the elderly man walking through the shop while holding onto tables for support. When he patted the girl's head, a woman sitting nearby pushed his hand away.

A man who had left the table returned, verbally confronted the elderly man, and then shoved him to the ground. The Facebook user thanked the public for their concern and information about the incident. Police have advised the public not to speculate or speculate about the incident.
