Sikh Separatist Group Announce Capital of Khalistan

The Sikh separatist organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has declared Shimla to be the proposed capital of a "Democratic Republic of Khalistan" following an unofficial referendum held in Indiana, USA. SFJ's General Counsel, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, addressed the gathering via video link and made the declaration. Pannun also accused the Indian government of committing genocide against Sikhs.

At the conclusion of the event, Pannun presented a map outlining the proposed boundaries of Khalistan, asserting that Sikhs have a legal right to safeguard their religion and families. He further accused New Delhi of engaging in a "three-front war" against Punjab, while also highlighting issues such as drug addiction affecting Punjab's youth, and agricultural debt and financial hardship leading Sikh farmers towards suicide.

Pannun paid tribute to three individuals, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Talwinder Singh Parmar, and Lakhbir Singh Rode. The SFJ plans to conduct the next phase of its referendum campaign in Alberta, Canada, on October 18.
