Religious leaders launch Tabung Haji RCI outreach, clarify misuse risks and safeguard 9.7 million depositors’ savings

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — In a nationwide effort to clarify the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) findings on the Tabung Haji (TH) institution, religious leaders and Islamic scholars will engage with the public through mosques, schools, government departments, colleges, universities, and community education platforms. Former Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa stated that this initiative, which follows a special conference, Hifz al-Mal, aims to ensure the public comprehends how TH manages its deposits, safeguard the savings of 9.7 million depositors, and uphold trust.

The conference, held at De Palma Hotel in Ampang in collaboration with the Malaysian Ulama Secretariat, brought together over a hundred scholars and religious leaders from diverse backgrounds, including chartered accountants, legal practitioners, religious educators, and pondok scholars. The discussions covered various aspects, such as the professional perspective on the RCI findings and their roles in safeguarding community assets.

Dr Mujahid emphasized the importance of the Hifz al-Mal principle, highlighting the TH's responsibility in managing millions of Muslims' savings for their haj pilgrimage.
