Osun poll proves APC, federal might can be defeated in 2027 — Wabara

Former Senate President Adolphus Wabara has highlighted the significance of the Osun State's recent governorship election, suggesting that the outcome signifies that federal influence and the All Progressives Congress (APC) can be defeated in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Wabara, who praised Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory, emphasized that the will of the electorate can never be permanently subdued by political mobilization, intimidation, or the deployment of federal power.

He commended the people of Osun State for standing firm in their support for Adeleke, despite the formidable "political machinery" mobilized by the APC-led Federal Government. Wabara stated that the Osun electorate has shown uncommon courage and resilience, refusing to be intimidated or coerced into changing their democratic rights.

Through this election, the PDP BoT chairman asserted that political power ultimately lies with the people. He urged Nigerians to emulate the Osun electorate's democratic stance during the 2027 general elections by voting en masse, staying at polling units and collation centers to safeguard their votes. Wabara also called for unity among opposition parties, urging them to rally around a single presidential candidate to maximize their chances of defeating the ruling APC in the 2027 presidential election.

However, he cautioned that the Osun governorship election should not be viewed as a guarantee of an opposition victory in the 2027 general elections, acknowledging that the APC possesses skilled political strategists.
