Osun poll proves APC, federal might can be defeated in 2027 — Wabara

Former Senate President and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, declared that the recent Osun State governorship election results signify that federal control and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are vulnerable to defeat in the 2027 general elections. Wabara, praising Governor Ademola Adeleke for his victory, emphasized that the strong support for Adeleke in Osun State demonstrates that no amount of political mobilization, intimidation, or federal power can permanently suppress the will of an informed electorate.

He commended the Osun people for their courage and resilience in refusing to be intimidated, standing firm despite the immense political machinery deployed by the APC-led federal government. Wabara reminded the nation that in a democracy, sovereignty belongs to the people, and the election results indicate that political power ultimately rests with the electorate.

He urged citizens to emulate the Osun electorate's behavior in the 2027 general elections by voting en masse and remaining vigilant at polling stations to safeguard their votes. Wabara also called for unity among opposition parties, urging them to unite behind a single presidential candidate to improve their chances of unseating the ruling APC in the 2027 presidential election.

However, he cautioned that the Osun election should not be viewed as a guarantee of opposition success in the upcoming general elections, noting that the APC boasts experienced political strategists.
