Osun: ‘APC attempted to rape democracy, laid siege like bandits’ – Atiku’s aide claims

Demola Olarenwaju, a senior political assistant to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) tried to undermine democracy in Osun State. According to Olarenwaju, the APC laid siege to the state like bandits in the weeks leading up to the gubernatorial election.

In a post on X, Olarenwaju warned that Nigerians would reject the APC in the upcoming 2027 election, just as the people of Osun State had rejected them during the recent gubernatorial election. He stated, "The failure of the attempted rape of democracy in Osun State by the APC does not change what they are: a shameless bunch of selfish politicians with no regard for democracy who tried to force themselves on a people who do not want them. Nigeria will also reject you in 2027."

Olarenwaju further alleged that the APC had laid siege to Osun State, harassing party chieftains, shooting and injuring people, and damaging state infrastructure to discredit the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke. He claimed that the APC even froze the state's bank accounts to cripple the government until public opinion turned against them.

Olarenwaju suggested that it was an APC governor who provided crucial intelligence to the Adeleke campaign during the election night, aiming to thwart the will of the people. He stated, "There is no way to defeat the APC without working from inside the APC, and that’s one edge the ADC has with former Buhari men."
