NEET UG Counselling 2026: MCC to close Round 1 choice filling today by 6 pm; choice locking started

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is set to close the choice-filling option for the undergraduate medical counselling for the 2026-27 session today, August 17, by 6 pm. Those who have not yet submitted their college and course preferences should complete this task promptly before the deadline. To submit their preferences online, candidates must log in to the MCC official admission website using their NEET UG roll number and password.

The committee has also activated the choice locking facility, which will be closed along with the choice filling window at the same time today. The final Round 1 seat allotment will be displayed on August 19. The upcoming NEET UG 2026 counselling events will follow, with important events listed in a table for registered candidates.

The registration process for NEET UG 2026 began on August 5, with the deadline initially set for August 12 but later extended to August 15. This year, approximately 20 lakh candidates appeared for the re-NEET exam, which was conducted offline on June 21 across 5,440 centers in India and 14 abroad. Out of these, 11.21 lakh candidates qualified for admission to undergraduate medical courses like dental, AYUSH, and allied programs.
