NADMO deploys personnel to North East ahead of dam spillage

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has dispatched personnel from its headquarters to the North East Region in anticipation of a potential dam spill from the Bagré and Kompienga Dams. This proactive deployment aims to bolster readiness and emergency response in affected communities. The personnel will assist in monitoring and coordinating response efforts to safeguard vulnerable populations and minimize the impact of rising water levels.

NADMO emphasizes that the spill could elevate water levels in the White Volta River and its tributaries, heightening the risk of flooding, particularly in areas along riverbanks and low-lying regions. The organization has advised residents in vulnerable communities to take immediate precautionary measures to protect lives and property. Households in flood-prone areas are urged to relocate to safer grounds before water levels rise, while farmers are encouraged to harvest mature crops early to lessen potential losses.

NADMO warns farmers, fishermen, herdsmen, and the public against engaging in farming, fishing, grazing livestock, or other activities within river channels and floodplains during the spillage period. Its personnel will support monitoring and emergency preparedness efforts as authorities strive to mitigate the impact of the anticipated water level increase.
