Mumbai Weather Update: Light Drizzle, Cloudy Skies Continue; IMD Forecasts Moderate Rain, No Alert This Week

Mumbai began Monday with light drizzle, cloudy skies, and gusty winds as monsoon conditions persisted. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts moderate rainfall and isolated thundershowers throughout the day, though no rain alert has been issued for the city this week.

According to the IMD, Mumbai and its surrounding areas will remain largely cloudy, with moderate rain expected at various locations. While heavy rainfall is not expected, some neighborhoods may experience moderate to heavy showers accompanied by gusty winds. Wind speeds are anticipated to range from 40 to 50 kmph, with gusts potentially reaching 50-60 kmph during intense downpours.

The highest temperature for the day is projected to be around 31°C, while the overnight low was recorded at 28°C on Monday morning. August started off wet for Mumbai and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region, with several areas witnessing moderate to heavy rain during the early days of the month.

The weather department forecasts light to moderate rainfall across the city throughout the week. Currently, Mumbai's air quality remains in the "Good" category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 30 on Monday morning. Under the standard AQI scale, readings between 0 and 50 are considered "Good," 51 to 100 "Moderate," 101 to 200 "Poor," 201 to 300 "Unhealthy," and anything above 300 falls under the "Severe" category.
