Faisalabad FIA thwarted a scheme to smuggle a minor girl to Saudi Arabia via a fraudulent marriage certificate on Sunday. During an immigration check at the Faisalabad International Airport, a minor passenger was identified and subjected to scrutiny. Further examination of her documents revealed that she was merely 13 years old, while the marriage certificate presented was fraudulent.
The initial investigation concluded that the objective was to traffic the young girl to Saudi Arabia on an Umrah visa. According to the FIA official Hira Firdous, the minor was coerced into an online marriage with Fiazur Rehman, who is from Burewala, Vehari and currently resides in Saudi Arabia. The documents for her international travel were allegedly prepared with assistance from agent Zahid, also known as Mujahid.
The FIA team apprehended the agent as well. Two counts of Trafficking in Persons Act 2018 have been filed against Nikah Khawan Hafiz Anis, the accused groom residing in Saudi Arabia.
