Man linked to Rocky the dog's death to face court charge

KLANG: A man accused of causing the death of a dog named Rocky will face court charges on Thursday. Muhammad Shah Hizam, 24, will appear in Sessions Court at 9am, having received a summons from the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS). Shah, along with lawyer Mahmud Abdul Jumaat, remains unsure of the exact charge he will face as of now.

Shah denies any abuse or killing of Rocky during a July 29 operation in Taman Telok Gedong Indah, describing the allegations as distressing based on a viral video. He claims he was merely performing an assigned duty and has been under extreme pressure, receiving criticism and death threats since Rocky's demise. Shah stated he was living under pressure, receiving intense criticism and death threats after Rocky's death.

Roghini Devi, Rocky's owner, discovered her pet restrained with a snare around his neck upon returning home that day. She insisted she pleaded with those on the scene to release the snare and hand over Rocky, but her requests were ignored. On August 2, the DVS lodged a police report and conducted investigations into the alleged abuse depicted in the video.
