Man, 35, dies after motorcycle strikes lorry left without fuel on Tumpat flyover

TUMPAT, Aug 17 — A 35-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after colliding with a parked lorry on the Wakaf Bharu flyover yesterday evening, as per Berita Harian (BH) reports. The fatal accident occurred around 5pm when the victim was en route from Kota Bharu to Pengkalan Kubor. According to Tumpat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Khairi Shafie, the lorry had been abandoned on the left shoulder of the flyover following an empty fuel tank.

The motorcyclist reportedly struck the lorry's right rear section while maneuvering around a bend. The severity of his injuries was chest-related, leading to his fatal condition at the scene, declared by a medical assistant. The deceased's body was subsequently transported to Tumpat Hospital for a post-mortem, which confirmed multiple fatal injuries as the cause of death.

Police are currently probing the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Any members of the public with pertinent information are advised to reach out to the Tumpat district traffic investigation officer at 09 7257222 or visit the district traffic office.
