Linda Mwananchi demands arrest of Gladys Wanga, Peter Kaluma over Homa Bay violence

The Linda Mwananchi movement has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma over violent incidents during the movement's tour of Homa Bay County. This demand was made during a press briefing on Monday, August 17, 2026, in which Linda Mwananchi leaders, including Pauline Njoroge, presented the movement's statement.

The two leaders were accused of making inflammatory statements that contributed to the violence surrounding the tour. The movement accused Wanga and Kaluma of incitement, urging law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute them under various pieces of legislation, such as the Election Offences Act, the Prevention of Organized Crimes Act, and the National Cohesion and Integration Act.

Additionally, the movement demanded that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) disqualify the two leaders from running for political office if they are found to have violated electoral rules. Should the National Police Service feel constrained, the movement stated that citizens are ready to enforce arrests.
