Linda Mwananchi aspirants demand probe into Homa Bay violence

Linda Mwananchi aspirants are demanding a probe into violent unrest that erupted during their rally in Homa Bay County on August 17, 2026, according to reports. The aspirants, led by Vihiga Women Representative candidate Amakove Wala, condemned the violence as an assault on democracy and the constitutional rights of Kenyans. They described the incident as an organized attack, with armed groups allegedly involved in the violence.

The leaders stated that over 100 vehicles in their convoy were damaged, with at least five burned, and journalists covering the rally were targeted as well. Some politicians, especially female candidates, were injured, and several remain unaccounted for, prompting urgent calls for investigations into deaths, missing persons, and assaults on the injured.
