Lee expresses condolences over deadly quake in Indonesia

President Lee Jae Myung conveyed his deepest sympathies to the victims of a catastrophic earthquake that struck Indonesia, alongside hopes for the safe return of those who are still unaccounted for. In a post on X, Lee lamented the extensive destruction wrought by the quake, addressing the Korean government's condolences to the victims and their families who have lost relatives and homes due to this sudden calamity.

He expressed optimism that recovery operations would be expedited under the direction of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, enabling the affected communities to resume their normal routines. Lee also voiced hope that the maximum number of people would be rescued and reunited with their families. The 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit eastern Indonesia on Saturday, resulting in at least 51 casualties by Sunday, according to international news media.
