Caprice diperintah bayar Ebit Lew RM200,000 kerana fitnah

Mahkamah Sesyen Shah Alam has ordered influential social media figure Ariz Ramli, known as Caprice, to pay Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, a defamation plaintiff, RM200,000 in damages for his seven statements made against him in 2023. Judge Zuhrina Nor ruled that Ariz had defamed the independent counsel during the statements, which were made alongside an Indonesian social media influencer known as Mondy Tattoo.

The court also instructed Ariz to file a petition for delay and retract the statements within 48 hours. Furthermore, the judge ordered Ariz to pay RM20,000 in costs to Ebit. However, the judge granted a temporary delay for seven days to allow Ariz to file a formal petition to postpone the implementation of the decision, should he decide to appeal to the Federal Court.

In September 2023, Ariz uploaded a video clip from a podcast episode featuring Mondy. Ebit claimed that seven statements in the clip portrayed him as sexually assaulting an Indonesian woman, as well as portraying him as irresponsible and opportunistic due to his religious beliefs, thereby tarnishing his reputation. According to Ebit, Ariz acted with malicious intent when he published the video without first verifying the facts, causing him to become the target of negative comments on social media. Ebit was represented by lawyer Akberdin Abdul Kader, while Rezan Ezra Mosinal represented Ariz.
