BOST, tanker drivers agree on measures to address concerns at Kumasi Depot, strike suspended

BOST Energies Limited and the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union (GNPTDU) have reached an agreement to address concerns raised by tanker drivers at the company's Kumasi Depot. The deal was struck after a three-day strike by the union, which had highlighted issues with working conditions, including the poor state of the yard where drivers park their trucks, especially during heavy rainfall.

Drivers also complained about the lack of yard rehabilitation and safety concerns at the facility. Under the agreement, GNPTDU executives in Kumasi will coordinate the resurfacing of the AG car park to enhance conditions for tanker drivers. BOST has also hired a contractor to repair a hanging loading arm at the depot, with work set to begin immediately.

Both parties have agreed to involve the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) in September 2026 to discuss meter-to-meter error margin issues, with a report on the outcome to follow. BOST revealed that a contract has been awarded for a new car park in Kumasi, with further updates to be provided as the project advances. The agreement aims to alleviate the concerns that sparked the industrial action, while simultaneously improving safety, infrastructure, and operational conditions at the Kumasi Depot.
