Agritech Restarts Urea Production

Agritech Limited, a prominent player in Pakistan's urea production sector, has announced the resumption of operations at its urea plant following the restoration of gas supply by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). The company made the announcement to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on August 17, stating that the resumption of gas supply from SNGPL had enabled the restart of its urea production.

SNGPL had initially suspended the re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) supply to Agritech's urea plant on July 18, due to a government decision related to issues in regional LPG supplies stemming from the ongoing regional situation. This was not the first time Agritech faced production disruptions in 2023, as the company had also temporarily halted urea production in March following SNGPL's discontinuation of RLNG deliveries.

The suspension occurred after an LNG supplier declared a potential force majeure event amid disruptions caused by the war in the Middle East. However, gas supply was later restored, allowing the plant to recommence production. The news of Agritech's successful return to full production operations was first reported by ProPakistani.
