73.39 lakh voters dropped in Telangana SIR draft rolls; 92 lakh to get notices

In Telangana, 73.39 lakh voters have been removed from the draft rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, while 92 lakh voters will receive notices. The Chief Electoral Officer, C Sudarshan Reddy, revealed these figures during a press conference. The Election Commission has received 78.30% of the enumeration forms from the state's 3.38 crore voters.

Apart from the deleted voters, 60 lakh have anomalies in their electoral rolls and 32 lakh remain unmapped. Of the total 3.38 crore voters, 9.22 lakh (2.73%) are deceased, 57.46 lakh (16.99%) have permanently shifted or are absent, and 6.70 lakh (1.98%) have been enrolled multiple times. The SIR process in Telangana's 33 districts has been extensive, with booth-level officers receiving incomplete forms due to various reasons such as electors moving to other states, non-submission, or unwillingness to register.

The period for filing claims and objections related to the draft rolls is from August 17 to September 16, with the notice phase and resolution of claims and objections scheduled between August 17 and October 15.
