Ukraine knocks out seven of Russian retailer Wildberries' 10 largest logistics hubs

Ukrainian forces targeted and disabled seven of Russia's largest logistics hubs belonging to online retailer Wildberries, according to the country's Defense Ministry. The attack, which occurred overnight on August 16, also damaged the company's largest warehouse in Moscow Oblast, spanning 250,000 square meters. The ministry highlighted the significant impact of the war on Russian logistics, as Moscow and its surrounding areas faced a drone attack the previous night.

Russian authorities reported that 201 UAVs were shot down over Moscow Oblast since Saturday evening, with a total of 600 drones targeting the region. Following the attack, a massive fire broke out at a Wildberries logistics complex in Moscow Oblast, covering over 200,000 square meters. The strikes have become more frequent, with at least 20 of the company's logistics centers targeted by Ukrainian drones, leading to the destruction of some facilities and the total loss of approximately 1.18 million square meters of warehouse space.

Consequently, Wildberries' turnover has reportedly dropped by about a quarter due to the loss of logistics capacity and the departure of sellers. The attacks have also raised concerns about potential bankruptcies among entrepreneurs who sold goods through the platform and lost their products in the targeted logistics centers.
