Tucson flooding: Female cyclist sucked underwater while trying to cross bridge, scary rescue video goes viral

A 20-year-old cyclist narrowly escaped death after being swept underwater while attempting to cross a flooded bridge in Tucson, Arizona. Miraculously, she survived the ordeal, though she required CPR from rescuers. A harrowing video of the incident quickly gained traction on social media. On Thursday, August 13, the Pima County Sheriff's Office responded to a water rescue at Sabino Canyon after the cyclist and her bike were pulled beneath the bridge by powerful floodwaters.

Eyewitnesses captured the moment the woman struggled to free herself from a hole, only to be sucked beneath the turbulent waters. A good Samaritan also became trapped and was washed away downstream before being rescued herself. The floodwaters, driven by intense monsoon storms in the area, were described as extremely dangerous by Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.

He warned the public not to attempt crossing flooded washes, whether by bike, vehicle, or foot, as the force of the water can be life-threatening and put both victims and rescuers at risk.
