Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in parts of Peninsula, Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to impact several regions in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak until 1pm today, according to a warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 8.35am. The affected areas in the Peninsula include Perlis, Melaka, Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Sepang, Kuala Langat, Port Dickson, Seremban, Rembau, Kuala Pilah, Tampin, Tangkak, Muar, Johor, Kuantan, Pekan, and Jerantut in Pahang.

In Sarawak, Mukah, Selangau, Sibu, Sarikei, Meradong, Bintulu, Kapit, Bukit Mabong, and Subis in Miri are anticipated to experience these weather conditions. The MetMalaysia warning signifies a short-term advisory issued when thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent, expected to persist for more than an hour, with an advisory validity not exceeding six hours.
