광복절 ‘올공’ 몰려간 장동혁과 국힘 의원들…“당 공식행사돼버려”

On August 15th, National Power Party representative Jeong Dong-hyuk attended the "Participatory Rights Protection" rally at the Olympic Park in Seoul, alongside other National Power Party officials and retired party members. Concerns were raised within the party about Jeong Dong-hyuk's aggressive election rhetoric, including calls for a "illegal election" and "re-election," which he claimed filled the event space.

Jeong Dong-hyuk wore an earpiece with the image of former President Syngman Rhee and recited a speech he delivered at the independence proclamation ceremony and 3rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Korea in 1948. He questioned whether the freedom, democratic rights, and safety of the Republic of Korea were secure. Most of Jeong Dong-hyuk's appearances at the Olympic Park have been informal, but this time it was an official party event.

Other National Power Party officials, including 18 current members of parliament and top party figures like Kim Min-su and Jo Guk-han, also attended. Party Secretary Jeong Dong-hyuk praised the spontaneous outpouring of support from party members and warned of potential disciplinary action, including committee hearings and ethics investigations, for those who participated.

Some party members voiced their concerns about Jeong Dong-hyuk's actions, with one member suggesting that this was a move to solidify Jeong Dong-hyuk's position within the party.
