The Jungneung Stream section of Bukhansan Mountain, which was previously covered, is being restored to its natural state. The Bukhansan Mountain area is home to many historical and cultural sites, including the Seonjeongneung Royal Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Jungneung Stream, which flows through the mountain, had been covered with concrete for about 1.2 kilometers due to urban development. However, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has been working to restore the stream to its natural state since 2019. As of now, about 900 meters of the stream has been restored, and the remaining 300 meters are expected to be completed by June of this year. The restoration project aims to improve the water quality and ecosystem of the stream, as well as to provide a green space for residents. The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to continue restoring and preserving the natural environment of the Bukhansan Mountain area. The government also plans to promote eco-friendly development and preservation of the area. In addition, the government will continue to work to protect and restore other streams and rivers in the city. The restoration of the Jungneung Stream is part of a larger effort to restore and preserve the natural environment of Seoul.
