Russia, Ukraine trade massive drone strikes, at least 14 killed

Russia and Ukraine have engaged in a significant escalation of drone warfare, resulting in at least 14 deaths. Ukraine launched what officials described as its "largest-scale" attack this year, employing around 822 drones. Six hundred of these targets were aimed at Moscow, causing widespread damage. The Russian capital suffered one of the most intense drone assaults in recent memory, with a Wildberries warehouse hit, resulting in three casualties among its employees.

In response, Russia retaliated with attacks of its own, killing at least seven more individuals and injuring over 39. These strikes targeted various regions in Ukraine, including the southwest Rostov region, the Belgorod region, and the Moscow area. In Rostov, five people perished during overnight missile attacks, while a civilian bus in Belgorod was hit, claiming the life of a woman. Moreover, an 83-year-old man lost his life in a drone attack in the Moscow region.

Wildberries, a prominent online retailer in Russia akin to Amazon, was also targeted in Koledino, a town 15.5 miles from Moscow's center. Three individuals suffered injuries from the explosion, which ignited a warehouse and sent a substantial cloud of smoke into the sky. Recently, Wildberries has been a frequent target of Russian strikes, allegedly aimed at disrupting logistics supplies for the Russian military.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, civilians continued to suffer from the conflict. In the Zaporizhzhia region, a 66-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman died after a private house was struck by a guided aerial bomb. Two additional fatalities occurred in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk. Sumy, Donetsk, and Kherson also reported one death each, with a 51-year-old individual falling victim to a drone strike in Sumy.

In Kyiv, air-raid sirens blared four times overnight as Russian forces targeted the Ukrainian capital, leaving at least six people injured, including a child.
