Real Madrid ultimately won the match with a scoreline of 3-0, which demonstrated the team's strong performance during the pre-season campaign.

Following the game, Mourinho addressed the media about his personal appearance and the reason behind the 'shiner' he had on the bench in Veltins-Arena. He explained that he suffered the injury while taking part in training, stating, "A ball to the face during training. If I hadn’t been wearing the glasses, it probably wouldn’t have happened at all. It could have been worse."
