Rafizi: Bersama names 15 candidates early to give Melaka voters time to assess

Melaka, August 16 — The Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) has introduced candidates for 15 out of the 28 seats in the Melaka state legislative assembly, marking the first party to unveil its candidates prior to the state election, as reported by The Star. The party's lineup comprises Dr Muhamad Solehin Saleh, 40, the elder brother of Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, who will stand for Bemban.

Bersama co-founder and former PKR deputy president, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli revealed the early announcement purposefully, stating that it would grant voters ample time to evaluate the candidates and their plans. Rafizi emphasized that they initiated this process before the state assembly's dissolution, which is yet to be decided by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He added that the early announcement signified the beginning of their campaign, with candidates, party members, and volunteers gearing up to commence constituency-level activities. Rafizi stated that revealing the candidates early would afford voters sufficient time to scrutinize their backgrounds, capabilities, and agendas, while also enabling them to forge connections with local communities and grasp the issues pertinent to their constituencies.

Furthermore, Rafizi indicated that a team was currently crafting a manifesto and policy proposals tailored to Melaka voters. He disclosed that Bersama intended to unveil its manifesto during its inaugural ceramah on nomination day.
