QF welcomes new generation of students to Education City - at Marhaba

Doha, Qatar witnessed the arrival of over 800 university students to Qatar Foundation's Education City on the annual Marhaba orientation event. This occasion inaugurated a new academic year at the education hub's eight affiliated universities, offering students a glimpse into the ecosystem that nurtures their academic, social, and personal development.

Francisco Marmolejo, President of Higher Education and Education Advisor at QF, welcomed the fresh batch of students, urging them to remember they are joining a unique community unlike any other. He highlighted how Education City is a diverse environment where students from varied fields, cultures, and perspectives collaborate, learn, and grow together.

Marmolejo stressed that success at Education City extends beyond academic achievements. He encouraged students to become active citizens within the QF community and the wider society, emphasizing that valuable lessons often stem from experiences outside the classroom, such as engaging in conversations, volunteering, or seizing unexpected opportunities.

Keynote speakers at the event included Khansa Maria, a Rhodes Scholar and disability rights advocate, and Dr. Anas Karaki, a QF alumnus who completed his degrees from Texas A&M University at Qatar and Hamad Bin Khalifa University. Both speakers shared their personal journeys, underscoring how Qatar Foundation's environment shapes students into future leaders.

The event also featured the Student Ambassadors Program, a prestigious initiative that cultivates future leaders by providing opportunities for students to represent QF and their respective institutions at high-profile events. Student ambassadors like Muhammad Umar and Ameena Rasul shared their enriching experiences, highlighting how the program has shaped their perspectives, strengthened their confidence, and inspired their approach towards their academic journeys and future careers.
