Qatar With Seven Arab, Islamic Countries condemn Israeli rejection of road map for completing implementation of US President plan to end Gaza conflict

On June 17, 2021, the Foreign Ministers of Qatar and seven other Arab and Islamic nations, including Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, expressed strong condemnation of Israel's rejection of the Road Map and the establishment of a Palestinian state. In a joint statement, the ministers emphasized the critical need for the complete and immediate implementation of the US President Donald Trump's comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict, as endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

The ministers emphasized that Israel's rejection of the Road Map and Palestinian statehood directly undermines the Comprehensive Plan, jeopardizing its implementation and the collective efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace. They stressed that such rejection confirms Israel's responsibility for obstructing peace in Gaza and the broader Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The Road Map, endorsed by the Palestinian factions, marks a significant milestone in the decommissioning of weapons, withdrawal of Israeli forces, deployment of the International Stabilization Force, transfer of administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and reconstruction of Gaza, as stipulated in the Comprehensive Plan.

The ministers underscored the importance of sustained US engagement to ensure Israel's full compliance with the commitments and arrangements outlined in the Comprehensive Plan and Road Map. They asserted that Israel bears full responsibility for any consequences arising from its continued rejection, obstruction, delay, or non-compliance with the plan, including the worsening humanitarian situation and disruption of the peace process.

The ministers reaffirmed the urgent need for the complete and immediate implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, ensure security and stability for all, and pave the way for reconstruction, recovery, and a just and lasting peace based on the Palestinian right to self-determination and statehood, as per international law.

They firmly rejected any attempt to deny or foreclose Palestinian statehood, asserting that only a two-state solution, based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital, can lead to a peaceful resolution.

The ministers emphasized the vital role of the Board of Peace and called upon all parties to support its efforts in implementing the Road Map and advancing the second phase of President Trump's Comprehensive Plan. They further called upon the Board of Peace, with active support and engagement from the United States, to take immediate and concrete measures to uphold the integrity of the Comprehensive Plan and prevent any party from obstructing its implementation.
