Punjab BSF jawan arrested for allegedly killing wife with iron rod

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, Amarjeet Singh, has been arrested in Punjab's Hoshiarpur for allegedly murdering his wife, Rama, with an iron rod, according to prosecutors. The incident allegedly occurred on the night of Friday and Saturday after Amarjeet Singh, who was on leave from duty, returned home. The couple, married for 12 years and with two children, had reportedly been suffering from physical and mental harassment from Amarjeet Singh.

Rama's family claims that after an argument, Amarjeet Singh assaulted her with an iron rod, causing her death. When Rama's family reached the hospital, they noticed deep injury marks on her body, suggesting that the death was not caused by a fall as initially claimed. Amarjeet Singh subsequently called Rama's parents, falsely stating that she had fallen from the terrace and was taken to a hospital in Hajipur.

Upon reaching the hospital, the family discovered the true extent of her injuries. The police registered a case and arrested Amarjeet Singh, along with his uncle Kuldeep Kuki and aunt Sonia, who are currently on the run. The post-mortem examination confirmed Rama's death by violence.
