Police yet to identify woman whose body was found in suitcase

Police are still struggling to identify the woman whose remains were discovered inside a suitcase in Sungai Perak last Friday. Assistant Commissioner Heisham Harun, the district police chief, stated that investigators have not yet uncovered any new leads to identify the victim or locate the suspect. He emphasized that there are currently no new leads, but the investigation is ongoing.

The police have sent the victim's fingerprints for checks, but have not received any reports of missing persons that could be linked to the discovery. Based on the body's condition, it is believed the woman had been deceased for over a day.

The body was found in a shallow section of the river after the water level receded, exposing the suitcase. A boat operator transporting tourists noticed the suitcase wrapped in plastic. Interestingly, the suitcase had reportedly been spotted at the same location by a sightseeing boat operator several days earlier, though he was unaware of its contents. The mystery was only exposed when parts of the body began protruding from the suitcase, which also emitted a foul odor.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to murder.
