Police identify man after elderly man shoved to ground over patting girl's head

A 40-year-old man has been identified by the police following an incident in Singapore where a 73-year-old elderly man was reportedly shoved to the ground after patting a young girl on the head. The 40-year-old man expressed willingness to let the matter go and did not wish to cause any trouble. The incident occurred at a food court on 50 East Coast Road on Saturday around 4:40pm.

The police emphasized that they are conducting investigations and requested the public not to speculate on the incident or its circumstances. The business Bei-Ing Wanton Noodles, which operates two stalls in the area, appealed for information on social media to help identify the younger man involved in the confrontation. CCTV footage from the business showed the incident taking place at its Roxy Square outlet.

The older man, who has difficulty walking, had briefly reached out and patted the girl on the head before being confronted by the girl's father. CCTV footage revealed the older man being shoved and falling to the ground. The older man, Mr Yeo Song Khoon, who has been selling wonton noodles for about 40 years, experienced back pain following the incident and sought medical attention.

He suggested that the child's father had been overprotective of his daughter. Mr Yeo agreed to visit the hospital for a check-up and the food court where the incident occurred will be closed until August 20.
