PM Modi's 2026 Independence Day Speech Lasts 75 Minutes at Red Fort

Narendra Modi delivered a 75-minute address on Independence Day from the Red Fort, making it the shortest speech among his 13 consecutive appearances at the historic site. This 2026 address was the shortest since 2022 and the fourth shortest of his tenure. Over the years, Modi's speeches have ranged from under an hour to over 100 minutes, averaging around 72 minutes.

His shortest speech was 56 minutes in 2017, while his longest was 103 minutes in 2023. Modi has now spoken for a total of 18 hours and 38 minutes in Independence Day addresses at the Red Fort during 13 years. The 75-minute speech came as Modi delivered his 13th consecutive Independence Day address, surpassing Indira Gandhi's record of 12 consecutive speeches.

Despite the hot and humid conditions, Modi took a few sips of water during his address and maintained his practice of mingling with the audience afterward.
