PKR will remain resilient despite betrayals, says Fadhlina

At the PKR Congress in Melaka today, Fadhlina Sidek, the chief of the Women's wing of the party, stated that the party will remain resilient despite the series of betrayals it has faced in the past and continues to encounter. Fadhlina, addressing those in the unity government who are undermining the party, appeared to be making a veiled jab at Umno-Barisan Nasional for collaborating with the opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional in the recent Negeri Sembilan state election.

She said, "We know what is happening around us – we hear all sorts of things. Today, they sit with us; tomorrow, they negotiate with others. Today, they defend the Madani government; tomorrow, we hear stories about them berating their own colleagues."

Despite admitting that the party has experienced "far worse" betrayals, including the defection of former PKR MPs that led to the collapse of the then Pakatan Harapan government in 2020, Fadhlina maintained that the party is still standing. She emphasized that the true strength of PKR lies not in who sits at the same table with them, but in its members who show unwavering dedication. She highlighted the efforts of those who knock on doors, put up flags, and endure abuse while campaigning, only to return the next day.

Fadhlina concluded by asserting that whatever political maneuvering takes place outside the party, PKR will face it. She also urged the party to approach the reformasi agenda with patience and consistency, stating, "Let us not be hasty, as any changes need to be carried out wisely."
