Pascal Wehrlein: Jaguar wanted to "destroy my race” in controversial London finale

Pascal Wehrlein has accused his former Jaguar rival Antonio Felix da Costa of conspiring to "destroy my race" and "ruin my championship" during the contentious Formula E season finale in London on Sunday. Wehrlein secured the 2025-26 title by outpacing Jake Dennis and Mitch Evans in the double-header event. However, tensions rose as both Porsche and Jaguar utilized team tactics to support their championship contenders.

Wehrlein found himself behind da Costa for much of the race, who deliberately drove slowly to keep Wehrlein behind and aid Evans' title chase. At times, Wehrlein even dropped out of the points-scoring positions after being run wide by da Costa at Turn 19, allowing other drivers to pass him. Jaguar's team orders were similar to Porsche's throughout the weekend, with Wehrlein's teammate Nico Muller holding off Evans in both Saturday's race and the opening phase of the finale.

When asked if there was any difference between the two teams' approach, Wehrlein stated that da Costa's defense was excessive, claiming he even attempted to brake-test him during the race. Wehrlein described da Costa as his "enemy" and labeled his tactics as "one of the most unsporting and unfair things" he had witnessed. Despite the contentious finish, Wehrlein emphasized that they still won the title and expressed optimism for the off-season, vowing not to forget the events that took place.
