#OsunDecides2026: PDP congratulates Adeleke, urges focus on peace, development

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended congratulations to Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his resounding victory in Saturday’s gubernatorial election. In a statement, the PDP lauded the election results as a testament to the confidence placed in Adeleke by the Osun electorate.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, highlighted the significance of Adeleke’s re-election, wishing him continued success in his second term. Despite Adeleke’s decision to contest the election under the Accord Party banner, the PDP expressed pride in its past contributions to the democratic advancement of Osun State.

Adeleke emerged victorious over the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, securing 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,815. The African Democratic Congress’s Najeem Salaam finished third with 17,180 votes. Adeleke outperformed his 2022 performance, winning 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas compared to 2022 when he secured 18.

The PDP emphasized that Adeleke’s re-election should herald a period of enhanced focus on governance, welfare, and progress for the people of Osun State. The party called upon all political actors to place the interests, peace, and prosperity of the state and the nation above partisan concerns. They urged all parties to respect the election outcome and foster stability in the region.
