Osun poll’s outcome shows Tinubu will lose to Makinde in 2027 – APM

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has declared that the outcome of the recent Osun State governorship election is a warning sign that President Bola Tinubu may lose the 2027 presidential election to the party’s candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. According to the APM, the victory by the opposition in Osun, a key state where Tinubu has strong political support, indicates that Nigerian voters may reject an incumbent political establishment when dissatisfied with its performance.

The APM’s National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, stated that the Osun result exposes the declining support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and growing demand for change at the federal level. He emphasized that the reaction of voters to APC leaders during the election, particularly the alleged booing of President Tinubu’s associates as they left the state, demonstrates increasing public dissatisfaction with the ruling party.

The party also pointed to instances where APC candidates and members reportedly chanted "APM" at party gatherings, suggesting growing disaffection within the APC. The APM argues that Nigerians are gravitating toward Seyi Makinde because they see him as a competent, transparent, and people-oriented leader with a proven track record of performance and development.

They claim that Makinde's achievements in Oyo State, which has seen economic growth under his administration, make him a strong candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The APM warns against any attempts to manipulate the 2027 presidential election, stating that any such action will be firmly resisted by Nigerians. They urge the ruling APC to heed the will of the people and not attempt to subvert it.
