New Details for Disney’s Villains Land Gets Official Name, Spooky Story

At the recent D23 event, Disney unveiled the official name and key details for the upcoming Villains Land area, which will feature iconic Disney villains coming together. The land, previously referred to as "Villains Land," pays homage to the naming convention of other popular areas within the Magic Kingdom, located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The storyline for Villains Land draws inspiration from Walt Disney Animation Studios' classic animated movies, as well as the popular "Hexed" preview that showcased an alternate world filled with witches.

The team at Walt Disney Imagineering was intrigued by the concept of a broken wishing well, which could provide a haunting atmosphere and set the stage for the villains to uncover a deep, cursed magic. They teased the costumes for the characters in Villains Land, promising them to be unique and reflective of the land's elegant aesthetic.

The ride inspired by Maleficent, the dark enchantress from Disney's "Sleeping Beauty," will take visitors through the briar patch and around the enchantress's mountaintop fortress. Additionally, there will be an innovative twist on a Disney coaster that hasn't been seen before with this attraction.

The E-ticket dark ride attraction will be situated inside the Evil Queen's Palace from Disney's original animated feature "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." In this ride, guests will descend into the catacombs and confront the Magic Mirror, which will transport them into a "mirror realm" where they can interact with various Disney villains.

This immersive experience aims to capture the spirit of the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War attraction at Disney California Adventure, where visitors explore different Marvel worlds. Villains Land is still a few years away from opening, and various operational details, including retail and dining options, remain undisclosed.
