‘Feel a lot of fear’: Yash on fan deaths and why he stopped meeting fans on his birthday

Kannada superstar Yash has spoken about the dangerous fan culture surrounding him, including a suicide incident where a fan died after being unable to meet the actor on his birthday. In an interview on Aap Ki Adalat, Yash revealed that his decision to stop meeting fans on his birthday began after several tragic events in 2021. He explained that in that year, his close friend and senior actor Ambareesh passed away, and he chose not to celebrate his birthday out of respect.

However, fans assumed he was at home and one of them tragically set himself on fire, taking his own life. Yash expressed deep regret over these incidents, stating that fans need to understand that their love and admiration should not come at the cost of their lives or their parents' expectations. The actor urged his fans to support his films and personal growth, rather than engaging in dangerous fan behavior.

Yash also revealed that a fan lost his hand while trying to install his banner and three more fans died in similar incidents. He emphasized that meeting fans once a year for photo opportunities is not arrogance, but rather a boundary to protect both himself and his fans from the dangerous consequences of their obsession.
