More tremors likely in Granada for days and weeks. Regional president urges calm and caution

Juanma Moreno, president of the Junta de Andalucia, has forecasted more earthquakes in the Granada province for the coming days and weeks. Following a series of tremors including a magnitude 5 quake near Alhendin on Saturday, Moreno urged citizens to remain calm and cautious. Overnight into Sunday, additional quakes rattled Andalucia, the strongest reaching 3.1 near Armilla.

Around twenty events were documented in the southern metropolitan area, with half of them felt by people in towns. Moreno emphasized the importance of following safety steps when a tremor is felt: drop, cover, and hold on under sturdy furniture or against a wall, avoid windows and balconies, and stay away from heavy objects. The main quake caused no major damage or fatalities.

Volunteer architects are inspecting buildings for structural issues, while the regional emergency agency continues monitoring the sequence closely. Residents are advised to stay informed through official channels and report any serious structural concerns to the emergency services on 112.
