Menu Rahmah operators nationwide reach 3,210 as of July, says deputy minister

As of July 2023, there are a total of 3,210 food and beverage premises across the nation that have registered as Menu Rahmah operators, according to Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Deputy Minister Datuk Fuziah Salleh. The Deputy Minister noted that the positive response indicated an increased willingness among food operators to collaborate with the government to alleviate the cost-of-living burden faced by the public.

The majority of registrations came from food stall and food court operators, numbering 1,016, followed by restaurants, hawkers, food trucks, and bazaars.

Deputy Minister Fuziah emphasized that Menu Rahmah is not just a temporary program but an ongoing commitment of the government to prioritize the cost of living for its citizens. The focus was also directed towards areas with high public demand, including Rest and Service Areas (R&R). To further promote the program, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is planning to strengthen its outreach through the 'Jom Cari Menu Rahmah' initiative and to work alongside industry players, traders' associations, and food operators to expand the menu options to more locations.

In addition to Menu Rahmah, the Madani Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) has also been expanded to bring daily necessities at lower prices closer to more people. As of July 2023, PJRM had been implemented 19,322 times, surpassing the year's target of 17,500 implementations. This program offers savings of between 10 and 30 percent compared to local market prices and includes essential items such as chicken, fish, eggs, cooking oil, flour, rice, vegetables, fruits, and household necessities.

PJRM was implemented in 600 state constituencies and 40 zones in the Federal Territories, concentrating on areas where the facility is most needed. KPDN Mini Carnival, held at the Melaka level, featured various government initiatives such as exhibitions, advisory services, business matchmaking, Menu Rahmah, and PJRM. The carnival provided reasonably priced sales by 27 traders, alongside stage activities, competitions, and an electronic sports (E-Sports) tournament in collaboration with Todak.

The event attracted nearly 3,000 visitors on the first day, with an expected rise in attendance for the remaining days.
