Maharashtra Forms High-Level Committee To Tackle Chakan Traffic & Road Woes; Pune Collector Jitendra Dudi To Lead

The Maharashtra government has established a high-level committee to tackle traffic and road issues in Chakan and its industrial areas, officials announced on Sunday. This decision follows the rise in industrial activity, heavy vehicle movement, and population growth in the Chakan region, leading to increasing civic problems. The committee, headed by Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi and co-chaired by Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, will include senior officials from various departments such as the Public Works Department, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

The committee will prepare an integrated road and traffic plan for the area, covering major roads, industrial routes, internal roads, service roads, drainage, streetlights, traffic signals, parking, and road safety. The committee will also identify traffic congestion hotspots and suggest measures to manage heavy vehicles, industrial traffic, parking, and intersections.

An immediate task will be to inspect and repair major roads, industrial routes, and service roads in the Chakan region, focusing on removing potholes and other road defects. The government aims to complete the planning, approvals, coordination, and implementation of the proposed measures within 10 months from the date of the government resolution.
