Loke apologises to DAP delegates for losing Chennah in Negeri Sembilan polls

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 16 — DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke apologized to party delegates for losing Chennah seat in the recent Negeri Sembilan state election. The loss was not due to personal failure, but to demonstrate DAP's ability to win support from people of various ethnic backgrounds in a Malay-majority area. Loke expressed sadness over the defeat, acknowledging that it was unsuccessful and not receiving strong support from Malay voters or the Orang Asli community.

This challenge highlights the need for DAP to break through racial barriers and continue its political journey. Despite the recent string of electoral defeats, Loke emphasized that the party's past experience and struggles should not deter it from moving forward. He encouraged delegates and party activists to use this as motivation and inspiration, stating that as long as they do not give up, DAP's future can still be embraced by the majority of Malaysians.

The congress, which is expected to discuss the party's position and future direction within the Unity Government, comes amid debates over slow reforms and electoral setbacks within the party, including its continued presence in the administration under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
