Life in an IIT | ‘I was scared of science. Then I scored full marks in JEE Physics’

Aryan Sandeep Gupta, a final-year student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, recounts his unconventional path to a career in data science and artificial intelligence. At 16, Gupta felt intimidated by science and searched online for well-paying alternatives. However, after insightful advice from mentors and his mother, he decided to pursue science.

Gupta's journey began with fear and uncertainty, but it led him to excel in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, scoring full marks in Physics. His passion for science, coupled with the support of his teachers, transformed his perspective on learning and propelled him to achieve AIR 1001 in JEE Advanced. Gupta's decision to join DSAI at IIT Guwahati came after months of deliberation, as he wanted to be part of the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.

Adjusting to life in the campus town of Guwahati, he found solace in the city's cuisine and the vibrant Navratri celebrations. His journey at IIT Guwahati was marked by an unwavering commitment to academics, a diverse social circle, and a deep appreciation for the institute's natural beauty.
