Karnataka government has failed to mitigate drought, says Kumaraswamy; opens handloom products market

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy criticized the Karnataka government for failing to address the drought affecting the state, speaking in Guledagudda, Bagalkot district on Sunday. Kumaraswamy accused the government of wasting public funds on a freedom festival while farmers suffer due to the lack of monsoon. He opened a new building for the Kotekal Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society, a farmers' produce purchase and sales center, a handloom products sales center, and the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society building.

Kumaraswamy expressed concern over the grave situation of farmers in districts like Koppal, Raichur, and Kalaburagi, stating that the government has not provided adequate aid to them. He commended the efforts of Kotekal Primary Karnataka Panchayat Societies, which built a ₹6 crore godown for storing farmers' grain and established a handloom manufacturing center, creating jobs for local weavers and 30 mothers.

The center was seen as a model to benefit farmers and weavers in the region. Local leaders blessed the event, with Gurusiddha Pattadariya Sri also present.
