I’ll continue serving PKR, says Nurul Izzah

PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar reaffirmed her commitment to the party, stating she would continue supporting efforts to strengthen institutions, uphold dignity, create opportunities, and help build a fairer Malaysia. Addressing the party's congress, Nurul Izzah emphasized that her decision to take a leave of absence would not hinder her ongoing contributions to the party.

At the suggestion of PKR Youth chief Kamil Munim, she proposed that social service should be an integral part of PKR's reform agenda. Nurul Izzah, speaking on behalf of her fellow party members, pledged her allegiance to the same cause, moving in the same direction towards a more equitable Malaysia.

In her address, Nurul Izzah expressed gratitude towards the PKR members who stood by her during challenging times, particularly when her father, party president and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, was incarcerated. Earlier this week, she announced her decision to relinquish the deputy president position to pursue further studies. She was originally elected to the post during last year's party elections.

PKR's information chief, Fahmi Fadzil, had previously indicated that Nurul Izzah would only take a temporary leave from her duties following the party's national congress, but the leadership opted to allow her a break instead.

Nurul Izzah defended her father's growing global presence, asserting that he was representing the concerns of Malaysians. She also criticized those who were skeptical of her father's international influence, labeling their criticism as jealousy-driven. Nurul Izzah encouraged her fellow Malaysians to focus on resolving the country's pressing issues rather than engaging in petty complaints about not attaining the prime minister's seat.
