The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon celebrated a historic victory at the 2026 WAFCON tournament held in Rabat. They emerged victorious with a 3-0 win over Malawi, marking their first-ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title. This achievement is particularly significant as Cameroon becomes the fourth nation to win the continental title, joining Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and South Africa.
The Lionesses' journey to the final was marked by the efforts of sisters Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, though they struggled to secure the championship. Cameroon's triumph not only secured their place in the 2027 Women’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil but also highlighted the exceptional talent among debutants, with Monique Ngock of Cameroon and Temwa Chawinga of Malawi earning notable accolades at the tournament.
